Local Media Widget
The Local Media Widget integrates the device’s own hardware.
Description
Section titled “Description”This widget displays the feed from the local camera and microphone of the device running the dashboard (e.g., the iPad on the wall). It does NOT display Home Assistant cameras (use the WebRTC or Camera widget for that).
Key Features
Section titled “Key Features”- Camera Feed: See what the tablet sees.
- Microphone: Mute/Unmute control.
- Device Selection: Choose which camera input to use if multiple are available.
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”- Browser: You must allow Camera/Microphone access in the browser when prompted.
- HTTPS: Modern browsers require HTTPS (or localhost) to access media devices.
Use Cases
Section titled “Use Cases”- Video Intercom: Two-way video calls (requires additional setup for signaling).
- Mirror: A simple “check your hair” mirror on the wall panel.
- Privacy, Quickly verify the camera is off/on.
