Announce Widget
The Announce Widget creates a visual and auditory notification system.
Description
Section titled “Description”This widget displays text (like a marquee or simple label) and can read it aloud using Text-to-Speech (TTS). It’s designed to make sure important messages are seen and heard.
Key Features
Section titled “Key Features”- Visual Display: Shows the text from a sensor or input_text entity.
- Text-to-Speech (TTS):
- Auto-Announce: Speak the text whenever it changes.
- Scheduling: Define “Quiet Hours” to prevent announcements at night.
- Debounce: Prevents spamming if the text changes rapidly.
- Generative AI: (Optional) Gemini TTS for more natural-sounding voice generation, where your account has it enabled. Announcements fall back to your browser’s built-in speech synthesis otherwise, so the widget works either way.
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”Source
